Learning from the past
In May 2024, we released our feature
documentary Pride vs. Prejudice:
The Delwin Vriend Story. The film
chronicles the courageous journey
of Delwin Vriend who was fired from
a Christian college in Edmonton
because he is gay, and the landmark
legal battle that followed and reshaped
2SLGBTQ+ rights in Canada.
After premiering at Edmonton’s
Rainbow Visions Film Festival in
2024, the film continues to garner
international acclaim from film
festivals across Canada and the
USA. The film honours a pivotal
moment in Canadian human
rights history and exemplifies how
storytelling can spark dialogue and
deepen understanding of issues
still relevant today.
This film is giving
2SLGBTQ+ people
around the world a
powerful reminder
that change is
possible — and that
their rights matter.
