Grow & Renew
AS WINTER ARRIVES, Alberta’s equestrian community
embraces reflection, resilience and renewal. At Alberta
Equestrian Federation, operations continue behind the
scenes, managing programs, advocacy and services to
support our members and horses across the province.
Looking back on the last few months, AEF has seen
remarkable progress and we continue to grow stronger
each season:
Celebrating Our Community: This issue highlights the
many ways equines shape our lives. We feature a day in the
life of barn help, the artistry of horsehair jewellery, life after
racing, the uniqueness of the mule breed, and the thrill of
skijoring. Each story reminds us of the diversity and passion
that define Alberta’s equestrian world.
The Funding Reality: Membership dues remain the
backbone of our organization, but they can’t cover all the
services, programs and advocacy our community relies on. We
are committed to keeping membership affordable while also
seeking new revenue streams.
This year, fundraising will be a core operational priority.
We are asking members to please consider adding a small
donation at renewal or purchase. Every gift, no matter the size,
helps sustain critical programs. Your support can make
a difference through:
• Trail Supporter Fund: Maintaining and improving
equestrian trails, trailheads and camping facilities.
• Scholarships & Bursaries: Supporting riders, students
and professionals pursuing education and training.
• Equine Emergency Disaster Fund: Providing rapid
response when disasters threaten horses and owners.
• Youth Programming & General Donations: Fueling the
next generation and sustaining AEF’s mission.
Donations can be made online, by phone or mail, or when
you renew your membership. Every dollar is directed toward
strengthening Alberta’s equestrian community.
Renew & Celebrate: Now is the time to renew your AEF
membership and remain connected to the benefits, advocacy
and programs you count on. Your renewal ensures that AEF
remains strong, sustainable and ready to serve.
On behalf of our board and staff, I wish you all the best
this holiday season, whatever that looks like for you. May it
bring rest, joy and meaningful moments. Thank you for your
continued trust and support as we move forward together.
