Trail Guide
Like trail riding at any time of the year, riders
should take some precautions — checking the
weather forecast, dressing in layers, carrying a
charged cell phone and keeping a map on hand.
Days become shorter as winter approaches, and
completing rides well before sunset becomes
even more important.
Wild animals can be more active in the fall
season as they prepare for winter and hibernation.
When you’re out on the trails, stay alert for bears,
coyotes, lynx and other wildlife.
The northern Rockies and foothills offer
diverse terrain and soaring, colourful vistas — plus
the peace of trail riding after the busy summer
season has ended.
Although Old Entrance stops offering trail
rides at the end of October, they remain open
over the winter season with wagon rides and
fully equipped cabins — when you need your
horse fix over the winter months.
