New Heights
AS THE VIBRANT colours of fall begin to emerge, I am reminded
of the beauty of renewal. This season is a time to reflect, regroup
and recharge after the busy summer months. Whether you spent
your summer participating in events, riding the trails, supporting
your horses or connecting with fellow equestrians, fall is the
perfect time to pause and prioritize your well-being, both
mentally and physically.
Looking back on the last few months, Alberta Equestrian
Federation (AEF) has seen remarkable progress and we continue
to grow stronger each season:
Expanding Our Presence: This year, we continued to engage
with communities across Alberta, attending competitions, rodeos
and recreational events. Our outreach has reached new heights,
strengthening our ties to diverse audiences and communities.
Update to Our Membership Database: Over the past few
years, we made updates to our membership database to enhance
the experience. However, we recognize that these changes led to
frustration rather than the seamless improvements we aimed for.
We heard your feedback loud and clear: “If it’s not broken, don’t
fix it.” That’s why we made the decision to return to the reliable
system we used just over three years ago, HorseReg. While
switching systems mid-year is unusual, we believe this is the
right move for our members.
Revamped and Reorganized Website: To better serve your
needs, we partnered with a fantastic team to revamp our website.
The new design makes it easier for you to find the information
you need. If you have some time, please take a moment to
explore the new site, and let us know if you encounter any issues.
This update was designed with you in mind, and your feedback
will help us make it even better!
Horse Welfare: As part of our ongoing dedication to equine
welfare, we are pleased to feature an article on slow feeders,
providing valuable insights on how they can potentially improve
the health and well-being of our equine companions.
Expanding Opportunities for Growth: The number of Wild
Rose-sanctioned horse shows has grown significantly, with a
continued focus on maintaining safe, fair and accessible events.
As we look ahead to this fall, we remain focused on our
operational goals:
Increase membership by three per cent: Our membership
referral program is launching soon, allowing you to earn a $5
credit for each new member you refer, up to the full cost of
your membership for next year. Your help in expanding our
community is crucial to our growth!
Increase donations: We need your support to reach new
heights in our mission. Donations help sustain our programs,
including the Equine Emergency Disaster Fund, which
provides vital support to horse owners during times of crisis.

Contributions also help fund scholarships and
bursaries (consider applying for one!), support youth
programming, and trail development initiatives as
part of our Trail Supporter program.
We are also pleased to offer legacy and planned
giving opportunities, allowing you to make a lasting
impact on the future of equestrian sports and the
welfare of horses in Alberta. Taxable receipts are
available through the Government of Alberta, and
funds come directly to AEF.
For more information on how you can donate or
to learn more about our giving programs, visit our
website or contact us directly. Your generosity helps
ensure the continued success and growth of AEF and
the equestrian community.
This fall, don’t forget to renew your membership
to continue enjoying exclusive benefits, including
Acera Insurance, health and dental plans, travel
insurance and more! Your membership unlocks access
to competitions, certifications, funding opportunities
and rewards.
As the weather cools and the days shorten, take
the time to enjoy this edition of Alberta Bits. We hope
you’ll find inspiration for your equestrian journey.
